Wallet comparison
With your own wallet you hold your crypto yourself: the keys belong to you, not the exchange. Here are widely used hardware and app wallets with documented details from the makers.
Cold wallets · hardware
The keys sit on a separate device that is not permanently online. You confirm every payment on the device. Useful for larger amounts and holding long term.

Price: list price in the maker's shop in US dollars, without shipping, as of our check. It can differ in euros and by country.
Hot wallets · apps
The keys sit in an app on a phone or computer, so on a device with internet access. Handy for small amounts and frequent use, but more exposed to malware and phishing.

How to read
"Secure chip": a certified chip meant to protect the key even if the device is stolen. "Open code": anyone can check what the software does. "Visible": the code is public, but the licence does not allow everything. All values come from the makers.
Not a buying recommendation. More important than the model: write the recovery phrase (seed phrase) down offline, never share it, and buy hardware wallets only directly from the maker.
